DarwinFPV Antispark XT60 filter is an anti-spark module for connecting batteries, suitable for 3-7" FPV drones and other RC models powered by 3-8S LiPo. It is built directly into the XT60 connector, replacing the original XT60 on the drone's power cable without adding any adapter or extra cable to the build.
A spark when connecting a battery is caused by charging the large capacitor on the ESC. At the initial moment, a huge current („inrush current“) flows, arcing between the connector contacts before they are fully inserted. Repeated sparking gradually burns and damages the XT60 pins, increases their contact resistance, and stresses the capacitors and ESC. The filter prevents this with a gradual power ramp-up („soft-start“) circuit — the power transistor switches on with a delay, only after the connector is fully inserted, allowing the voltage to rise gradually. This prevents sparking when connecting the battery.
Once switched on, current flows through a power MOSFET in a TOLL package with resistance of only 1-1.2 mΩ, so the filter causes virtually no losses during flight. The four-layer board with thick copper (3 oz) handles a continuous 120A. The module measures 24x16x12mm and weighs 6.4g.
Installation requires soldering. Cut off the original XT60 connector from the drone's power cables and solder the cables to the + and − pads on the output side of the module, then insulate the joint with the included heat-shrink tubing. The battery is then connected to the XT60 on the module. We recommend placing the module away from heat generated by the ESC and motors and securing it against vibrations.
Important notice: When soldering, observe the correct polarity according to the + and − markings on the board.
