XF Z-2Pro Gimbal 4K + 640px Thermo

XF Z-2Pro is a compact 3-axis gimbal with an integrated 4K daytime camera and a thermal camera with a resolution of 640x512px. It is especially suitable for advanced drones with ArduPilot or PX4 firmware. The entire unit weighs 130g, so it can also be mounted on smaller 7" drones. Power supply is possible with voltages in the range of 10-26,4V, installation with the camera facing down or up as needed.

The daytime camera uses a 1/2.8" CMOS sensor with a resolution of 3840x2160 and an f/1.0 lens with a 6,0mm focal length (40,6mm equivalent). The AI-ISP image engine provides color images even at night in poor lighting conditions, while AI-HDR preserves details in highlights and shadows in scenes with high contrast. 8x digital zoom is available.

The thermal camera uses an uncooled Vanadium Oxide sensor (NETD <40mK) with a resolution of 640x512px and a spectral range of 8-14μm. Compared to the Z-2Mini model, this is six times the pixel count, which is reflected in detail and range — the thermal camera detects a person at 379m and a light vehicle at 1163m (Johnson criterion). The f/1.0 lens with a 9,1mm focal length covers a 48,3° horizontal field of view. Ten color palettes are available, including White Hot, Black Hot and Iron Red. 

The gimbal supports AI detection and tracking of multiple objects — it independently recognizes people and vehicles in the image and then continuously tracks one of them. Identification latency is under 40ms, tracking deviation is updated at 30Hz. Stabilization is ensured by a 3-axis non-orthogonal mechanical construction with two temperature-controlled IMU sensors and AHRS fusion of carrier data. Angular accuracy reaches ±0,01°, the movement range is -120° to +65° on the pitch axis and ±140° on the yaw axis at speeds of up to 150°/s.

Z-2Pro can be controlled via Ethernet, UART or S.BUS, with support for a private protocol as well as MAVLink used by ArduPilot and PX4 autopilots. Video is streamed via RTSP (H.264/H.265) at up to 4K@30fps with latency from 320ms, recordings are saved to a microSD U3/V30 card with a capacity of up to 256GB, and a Micro HDMI output is also available. The image can be monitored and controlled using Dragonfly software, which also enables online downloading of photos and videos; XF-QGC software is used for full integration with open source autopilots. OSD information can be overlaid on the image, and photos include EXIF with time, carrier position and camera orientation.

The package also includes active cooling for the gimbal unit.

Important warning: The thermal camera lens must not be pointed at the sun, laser or any other strong energy source, and the temperature of the observed object must not exceed 600°C — otherwise the sensor will be permanently damaged.
